Dr. Frank S. K. Appah Jr., MD, Ph.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in adolescent and adult psychiatry. He is the founder of Meroë Psychiatric, a private practice in Westport offering psychiatric consultation, psychotherapy, pharmacogenetic testing, and medication management. Dr. Appah obtained his MD and Ph.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in 2009 and completed his residency in adult psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, where he served as co-chief resident and received recognition from the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He also completed a public psychiatry fellowship with the Yale Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Appah has extensive experience caring for individuals with various mental health disorders and was honored with the St. Vincent De Paul Award as "Physician of the Year" at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He integrates conventional psychiatry with nutritional therapies, genetic testing, and laboratory studies to optimize brain health, often collaborating with clinical nutritionists. Dr. Appah is an instructor at the Yale School of Medicine and has a particular interest in psychedelic-assisted therapy, being a trainee in the MAPS MDMA Therapy Training Program.
